A Letter from Rob Mickam, Chapter Advisor

Dear Fellow Alumni,

These are truly exciting times for Acacia here in Austin.  The current group of actives has both of their twin goals of getting re-chartered and regaining our original fraternity house within sight as early as this spring.

First, I hope that by the time this newsletter reaches you that you’ve received Walter Demond’s letter concerning the status of 2614 and the current colony moving therein.  The terrific news is that the current colony has been given the go-ahead to reacquire the 2614 property possibly as soon as June 1st; possibly as late as mid-August – currently negotiations are underway to determine exactly when.

Their other goal is to be re-chartered.  Currently the chartering banquet is scheduled for the evening of the 6th of May at the Hilton in downtown Austin.  Invitations are to go out soon and if you don’t receive one then a version will be posted here on the website at http://www.texasacacia.org/alumni.html .  Any and all Acacia alumni are encouraged to attend.  Those of us who attended the initiation banquet at the Driskill a few years ago know how much fun this event will be.  It’ll be a great chance to meet the actives as well as to strengthen the ties of some of our old friendships.

I also wanted to mention that if you aren’t on the alumni e-mailing list – or know someone else who isn’t – and want to be on it then please drop me an e-mail at RMICKAM@austin.rr.com .

I hope that by reading this newsletter you have an idea of just how motivated to ensure the future success of the fraternity these men are.  I also highly encourage you to meet them yourself – if not at their chartering banquet then at some point in the future.

Most Fraternally,

Robert Mickam
